I have a gallon of margarita mix, but the store is closed and we are out of tequila. Like a field of ripe corn her platinum hair billowed behind her; rippling and shining with the light of thousand suns. Her face was pale yet glowing, cheeks an attractive shade of dusky rose and her eyes sparkled like emeralds. She cried out with unadulterated joy as she willed her horse to go faster and faster through misty mountain ranges and along deep, clear blue rivers. Princess Liafon was in her element. The earthy, peaty smell of the ground left disturbed under her steeds hooves filled Lia’s head and the deep, rhythmic hypnotic beat of its hooves on the compacted soil and spongy lichen sent her into a trance like state, the only things that mattered right then were the smell and sound , thump thump de thump de thump…
“Lia!”
Lia looked up from the heavy tome she was supposed to be studying with a start as the resonating and reassuring voice of her nurse rang down the corridor leading to her bedroom. The sound of the horses gallop was still ringing in her ears. Again the noise of the Nurse’s voice reverberated off grey stone walls and broke Lia’s dream like a shattered mirror. She rolled her eyes back into her head and gave a little groan before letting herself fall back into her goose down pillows. Her emerald eyes were wide and staring at a spot on the ceiling where a tiny crack had appeared. She counted under her breath….three…two….one…
“Princess Liafon! You’ll get yourself here right now if you know what is good for you! You need to get dressed and prepare yourself for Prince John’s arrival!”
Lia lifted herself wearily from her bed, her simple white lace nightgown was soft and comfortable against her skin. She shuddered at the thought of what she had to put on (or install as Nurse always said of the mammoth task of dressing Liafon on ‘Prince Days’. Wandering into her wash chamber she stared with a wistful look in her emerald eyes out of the open widow; a flock of small brightly coloured birds ducked and dived together. They moved as one, seamless and untiring- going this way and that calling out to each other as they flew. They were so free and untroubled, their only worries in life being where the next meal was coming from and the menacing sparrowhawk that had his small beady eye trained on them as he tightened his already vice-like grip on the branch he graced as his throne.
The princess admitted to herself that the birds worries were far more life threatening than her own but she knew in her heart that she would rather have the struggle to survive making every second valuable that be stuck in her own monotonous life. Lia knew that her father only wanted the best for his only daughter but how she would love to fly away with those birds! Free and unburdened of future expectations. She knew that if her father’s plan went the way he wanted it to she was in for a lifetime of this- wishing and wondering what could have been.

She splashed her face with ice cold water.

When she had finished her ablutions Nurse came into her chamber, arms laden with silk petticoats in bright red and blue colours with overskirts of thick sapphire wool which she proceeded to lay out on Lia’s bed. . Lia submitted without fuss as she knew it was inevitable and raised her hands up above her head as Nurse lifted skirt after heavy skirt onto her slim hips. She then proceeded to put on the bodice part of the dress which was in itself a challenge. There was a complicated system of ribbons which had to be patiently threaded before Nurse steadied herself and pulled hard on the ends of each one, cinching in Lia’s already relatively small waist to the point where she could barely catch breath.
Why did she have to wear this ridiculous bodice? Who was there to admire her in it here? Lia combed her waist length hair making it shine more than ever. She was anything but vain however she had been told all her life by Tahlia, Nurse and the occasional guest that visited the castle that she was to be a great beauty one day. Lia felt sure that the day was coming very soon. More and more young men came every week to see the fourteen year old princess and yet every time they walked off talking in hushed tones with her father never bothering to consult with or even greet Lia herself. She felt like a piece of meat. Cut up and sliced to look attractive then hung up for prospective buyers to examine. Most of the time Liafon saw her beauty as more of a curse or bind than a virtue and found herself resenting it.

Did you ever play this abnormal strength game as a kid?

About 4 or 5 of us stood around another kid lying on the floor and tried – with difficulty to lift them – and then we’d go round in a circle repeating one after the other to the ‘victim’ on the floor – “You’re in a car crash”, “you’re bleeding”, “You’re turning white”, “You’re dying”, “you’re dead!” And then with the victim now ‘dead’, we’d be able to lift them way above our heads!

A less morbid one was done with 1 kid sitting on a chair and 3-4 trying to lift them and the chair with the lifters only using their index and second finger of each hand. Impossible obviously. UNTIL we went round in a circle repeating some mantra about the person being light. And then trying it again, it became possible.

How do you think this works – is it hypnotic? I guess the repetition of each phrase 4 or 5 times one after another going round the circle produced a trance-like state. And the suggestions of lightness and unresisting deadness?

I’ve only just remembered this and I’d be fascinated if anyone knows how this works or did something similar

I like music a lot, and although I can adapt to liking most music genres, there are two main types of music that I can listen to on repeat all the time. There’s classical music such as Beethoven or Pachelbel, and varieties of techno like Basshunter, Skrillex, and others. Although there’s another genre that I could listen to even more, I’m not sure if it has a name or what it would be called, but it’s a combination of the two types of music that I love; classical and techno combined. I’m actually listening to a trance version of moonlight sonata while I type this.
When I listen to classical, I can relax and fall into a hypnotic state of mind. If I listen to techno, trance dubstep, or any other electro, I feel unstoppable, and that I could just float off the ground if I wanted to. Electro gets my heart racing .
A combination of both is so powerful and intense in my mind that it makes me want to turn the volume and bass loud as possible and literally absorb the epicness. To say the least, the fusion of classical music and electro music may have an effect on me as if it was a high.

Dave was suffering from shell shock and mental instability after serving in a brutal war overseas. Waking up from a blackout, he hallucinated that he was still in the war and that his good friend Todd was the enemy. Thinking that he was acting in self-defense, Dave shot and killed Todd.

Dave is normally a quiet, gentle person, but he was hypnotized by an evil psychiatrist and ordered to kill Todd. While in a deep, hypnotic trance, Dave carried out the order.

Dave was showing off his handgun to his neighbor Todd. Because Dave did not realize that the gun was loaded, he was handling it carelessly. It accidentally went off and killed Todd.

One night in a bar, Dave had way too much to drink. He got into a vicious argument with Todd, who was also drunk and verbally abusive. In a state of alcoholic rage, Dave went to his car and came back with a gun and shot Todd. Dave woke up the next morning in jail with no memory of what happened the night before.

Dave’s father was a violent and brutal drug dealer who finally took off forever when Dave was 8 years old. Thereafter, Dave’s mother had an unending sucession of abusive, live-in boyfriends. Dave never experienced love but only physical and psychological abuse. He carried the emotional pain and anger deep within his twisted personality like a ticking time bomb. Finally, at age 22, Dave’s bomb exploded. Dave was provoked into a meaningless, heated argument with Todd (a total stranger who reminded him of his abusive father). In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Dave pulled out a gun and shot Todd.

Dave was having an affair with Todd’s wife and wanted her husband out of the way. After weeks of planning and stalking Todd, Dave shot and killed him as Todd left his gym.

I am uncontrollable around food?

I can’t explain it. I feel like when I eat, I am aware of making the food; however, I feel like I’m in a trance when I’m actually eating it. I shove what I can down my throat and am in a hypnotic-like state. Once I’m stuffed, I snap out of it.

Why would I do this? There has to be some type of emotional thing behind it. I just can’t figure out what.
